FAQ

Q. Where are lessons?

A. Lessons are located at Boulder Ridge Golf Club, San Jose, CA 95123. Non-members park in the guest parking lot (first lot on the left once you enter the property). Walk down to the range and find me at the end. The Pro shop can direct you where to go if needed. Dress code is polo shirt, no jeans.

Q. What level do I need to be to take lessons?

A. All levels and ages over 8 are welcomed to take lessons. If you are a beginner, a double digit index player wanting to get down to a single digit index, a junior golfer learning to improve, a high school golfer wanting to make your varsity team or strive for a college scholarship - you can take lessons.

Q. Do I need golf clubs?

A. Yes. We may be able to provide clubs for you to take a lesson, but it’s not guaranteed they will be available as sets are rented out for course play. Kids must have their own set of clubs to take lessons. Parents, it’s important to make sure your kids have the correct size clubs for their height as they grow. Use this guideline for club fittings:

Child’s height - 45-48”, 48-51”, 51-54”, 54-57”, 57-60”, 60-63”, 63-66”, and 66-69”

Q. What happens if it rains?

A. You can still train on rainy days. We are fortunate to have an indoor facility utilizing the industry-leading TrackMan Launch Monitor. TrackMan measures the full flight of golf shots from 4 ft to 400 yards to measure club delivery and offer an elite training tool.

Q. Can I take a lesson with another person?

A. Unfortunately, no. To offer the best quality of instruction, lessons are taught one-on-one as everyone has different swing faults and fixes

Q. Can I record lessons?

A. Absolutely! I encourage video and will use it on your lesson to track your progress and changes. You can also record a summary of notes and concepts so you have a record of each lesson.

Q. How old can junior golfers start taking lessons?

A. Kids as young as 8 can benefit from private coaching. At the moment, I do not take absolute beginners. They must have course experience or be training to compete. Juniors must have their own set of clubs to take a lesson.

Q. Do I need to purchase my own range balls?

A. No. Range balls are provided during the lesson. If you want to warm up or practice before/after your session you will need to purchase range balls at the pro shop. Cost is $10 for unlimited balls (one hour) with Trackman. Credit or debit card only.
